River Cruises

River cruising is EXCELLENT if you want stress-free travel or have never traveled much.  Check out my BLOG POST about why it can be an excellent way to get your feet wet (pun intended) with European travel.

Experience the magic of European river cruising, a top travel choice for exploring the continent’s most beautiful historic cities and charming villages. Unlike larger oceangoing ships, river cruise ships are smaller, allowing them to navigate narrow rivers and canals, bringing you closer to iconic destinations. Immerse yourself in stunning scenery, visit world-famous landmarks including UNESCO World Heritage sites, and savor authentic local cuisine on a journey tailored for cultural discovery. Most cruises include shore excursions—from walking tours and food tours to bike tours—ensuring you make the most of every stop.

A European river cruise guarantees an unforgettable adventure, blending fascinating history, breathtaking landscapes, and culinary delights. As a river cruise specialist, I can help you find the perfect river cruise—whether you’re drawn to the Danube, Rhine, Rhone, Seine, or Douro. I also specialize in Mediterranean ocean cruises and European ocean cruises, offering seamless itineraries to explore coastal gems.

River Cruise Companies
These are just a few of my favorite companies

AmaWaterways

AmaWaterways is one of the most all-inclusive river cruises.  Your excursions are included along with your food, entertainment and cabin.  They also partner with Disney for family cruising opportunities.

Avalon Waterways

Avalon's cabins are unique in that the beds all face the river.  You wake up to a beautiful view.  Some cruises offer an "Active and Discovery" program that offers deeper dives into local culture and more active excursions like hiking.

Viking River Cruises

Viking has 80 ships and is the biggest fleet in river cruising.  It's a popular brand thanks to heavy advertising.  Their cabins are sometimes smaller and ships hold more passengers than other brands.

Uniworld River Cruises

Uniworld goes to some very unique places not always found on other lines.  Its ships are very fancy and reflect the route with the decor and food.  Service is top notch.

Amadeus River Cruises

Amadeus is affordable luxury.  They are one of the best values in river cruising.  They are also great for groups and offer some shorter cruises for those who can't invest 7 days in a river cruise. They also have low solo traveler supplements.

Riverside River Cruises

A newer brand but already proving to be luxurious.  Every suite has Butler service.  I love that they offer cruises as short as 3 days so you can combine another trip with a river cruise and have a very custom vacation.

Tauck River Cruises

Tauck River Cruises are considered some of the best.  They offer Family cruises for multi-generational touring through their "Tauck Bridges" programs.  River cruising isn't just for grown-ups anymore!

Celebrity River Cruises

Coming in 2027 with bookings from this summer!  Celebrity is custom building 10 ships promising to turn what we know about river cruising upside down.  Ships will bring the best of Celebrity to the rivers.  Stay tuned!
